Trident Sweep the Board at T-UK English Championships
The inaugural T-UK English Championships took place on Saturday 19 November at Stratford-on-Avon and the Trident Group of clubs was represented by a large contingent of competitors. It was pleasing to see a new batch of students who were competing in their first national competition.
After a short address by Mr John Archer (VI) proceedings commenced and competitors and judges alike were kept busy on the seven squares that had been set up. Turnout across the Association was impressive and it was great to renew old and make new friendships with students from different parts of the Association. An impressive team led by Mr Condie travelled down from Scotland. The number and commitment of so many instructors and their students from all parts of the Association is a good indication of the spirit and strength of T-UK. This was matched by Mr Miley and the other instructors and students from the Trident group. Well done to all.
As will be seen in the medal tally that appears the performance by the Trident competitors was really impressive; this was right across the board. All can be proud of their achievements. The tally is so long that it is impossible to highlight any one person as a large group achieved two gold medals. All I can say is a resounding “Well done” to each and every one of you. Impressive displays occurred across all the disciplines; sparring, destruction and patterns which is a clear demonstration of the standard of all Trident group students.
It was great to see that the Trident group was represented by all its schools and to that end thanks are due to the respective instructors; without your commitment, support and yes cajoling the event wouldn’t have been as successful as it was.
Thanks are due to Mr Archer and his team for the wok before a competitor even stepped into the venue and to all those who ensured that the tournament went ahead so smoothly.
Many thanks to all those who came down to the Stratford especially parents and others who gave such support to the competitors without you the event would never have taken place. Finally to those who competed thank you and well done you are a credit to all your instructors and Mr Miley.
